Maybe my expeience here 25km south of Nannup may be relavant: I got
ISDN installed on a special $99 upgrade deal, don't know if it still
applies. 

I don't actually use the ISDN digital service because it is too
expensive, but it does bring two high quality analog lines righ to my
house. I use the second line for my modem router (Netgear RM356) for
dialup connections, and it normally stays up for three to four days
at a time, saving me lots of phone charges. Throughput is generally 4
to 5 k bytes per second downloading.

I'll still have ISDN if it becomes available down here, but this is
not bad for second best.
