[plug] terminal erase and del chars

Hi folks

I was hoping someone on PLUG might know how to change the erase and del 
chars used by xterm. I've got an app here that doesn't correctly follow 
termcap/terminfo and wants backspace to send ^H and del to send ^? 
instead of the (strange) linux backspace=^? and del=^[[3~ .

Alas, modifying it to just follow the darn termcap won't be possible. It 
has its own undocumented termcap file format, you see...
