G'day,

After transferring a machine to a new hard drive, qpopper has started to
complain about not having permission to write to /var/spool/pop; purging
qpopper (which removes /var/spool/pop) and reinstalling it seems to have
no effect. Here's a transcript of the error in question...

(cameron at erdos ~) telnet plato.local pop3
Trying 10.0.2.1...
Connected to plato.local.
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK Qpopper (version 4.0.4) at plato starting. <739.1056769708 at plato>
USER central
+OK Password required for central.
PASS (not telling)
-ERR [SYS/TEMP] Failed to create /var/spool/pop//.central.pop with uid 1000, gid 0. Change permissions.
QUIT
+OK Pop server at plato signing off.

And the permissions on /var/spool/pop:

(root at plato ~) ls -ld /var/spool/pop
drwxrwsr-x 2 root mail 48 Mar 12 22:38 /var/spool/pop/

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this, or more interestingly,
how to fix it?

Cheers,

Cameron.
