[plug] mail to news gateway

I'm migrating some stuff to a Linux server.
One of the existing facilities is a mail to news gateway that
accepts mailing list articles and drops them into local newsgroups
for perusal/archiving.
The old system uses mail2news that was written about 10 years ago,
and feeds into C-News (performance release). No-maintenance and
it's run without fiddling for more than 6 years.
Now, how do I get this working on Linux with 3rd millennium
software? Leafnode doesn't (yet) like local-only newsgroups.
Leafnode is preferred because it's no-/low-maintenance.
The MTA is to be Postfix.
What packages are other using for similar tasks? Or do users really
like to see 200+ mailing list articles in their mail inbox?
