SUN Microsystems is about to sink its hooks deeper into the NSW
public sector, with the state government tendering for the supply
of the complete range of Sun software.

The Sun tender has been matched matched by government wide
tenders for Citrix software licences and midrange computing
    systems.

The NSW Department of Commerce has issued a request for proposals
to a number of unnamed Sun resellers for the supply of software
ranging from desktop applications - in the form of Sun's
StarOffice suite - to networking, collaboration and operating
    system software.

    [...]

The [NSW] government has still not signed a whole-of-government
arrangement with Microsoft, despite the two parties having been
    in negotiation for months.

    [...]

The tender issued calls for system hardware, software and support.
System software that will be considered includes Windows, Unix and
Linux as well as VMS and AS400.

Cheers; Leon
