I loaded up a few docs, fiddled a bit, and couldn't kill it. Then again

Font hell :-(
The "interesting" choice of default UI font remains. OO.o still has to 
be told where to find fonts on the filesystem using spadmin to get 
decent results, it can't use fontconfig if its present.
