Alas, this is becoming less true at least under Windows. More apps seem
to be using their own "XP-Style" widgets and such, following the style
of the latest MS Office release - even on older windows variants or XP
with "burn out my eyes" mode turned off. The primary rule-breaker on the
Mac is Apple, with their inexplicable obesession with "brushed metal"
windows. Anyway, I'd say that while the common *nix toolkits are
converging, the user experience on most other platforms is more
/different/ apps.
