Except that I run with the new version and then blitz the backup when it 
has passed my reliability acceptance testing, so doing it this way uses 
more space for a couple of days but then it gets deleted anyway.
If I get what I think is a milestone point, I just copy it onto a CD.

I had thought about COW but it's not the easy way to do what I want to, 
and with a 60GB drive on my laptop I'm hardly pushed for space :p)

I will check out COW though for a multiple virtual server concept I 
have. Thanks for the idea.
