[plug] USB CF Card Reader must be plugged in @ boot

I have a USB card reader that uses sda1 when plugged in. The only way I can
get it to work is if it is plugged in during boot. Otherwise if I plug it
in I get the new usb device found but sda1 isn't a valid block device.
Also when it is plugged in during boot I get a USB Timeout (message
repeated many times)
and it slows the boot process.
Any Ideas?
Thanks
Tim
