Webspace is a separate issue. When you get a domain, you get a DNS
delegation, and the right to change it. The .tk folk charge for that,
which is fine, but not free freedom.

I don't know of any free high-level domains, though you can get a free
6-months under .id.au at the moment, then around $49/2-years I think.

I run my own DNS, and use spark as backup, but there are other free
services, as mentioned recently on this list.
