I know it's not exactly what you are after, but you can get a case with 
the plugs already at the front.  But you'd have to gut the existing box 
and move everything across.

OmniVision in Mt. Pleasant has the type (they have USB and audio jacks 
at the front but not firewire) for somewhere around $50 i think, but 
their online store seems to be down atm:
