xpdf comes with several command-line utilities. If you compile xpdf
yourself, they should all have been installed. `pdfimages` can extract
bitmap images from PDFs. If you have a package-managed xpdf, the weight
of the extra utilities may have been moved to a separate package (e.g.
xpdf-utils in Debian).
