It can be a pain to set up, but it has worked really well for me in the
past. Creation of a Kerberos system is not a user friendly process at all.
Documentation was written by the same people who wrote all those old
man pages everyone complains about.
i.e. Once you understand the topic, the man pages are a useful
reference/reminder, but until then, they're pretty cryptic.
The KDC can be the big pain, especially if you want
a bulletproof architecture. The other common pain I've seen is people
not being aware that the MS Win 2K implementation doesn't play nicely
with other implementations, which can make interop more work than they
bargained for.
