freshmeat.net has 'rating', 'vitality' and 'popularity' indicators. Not
sure exactly how they are derived though.

Hi all,
Over the past few months I've come across the situation where I am
looking for a a solution to some problem and using apt-cache search come
across several applications that would do the trick.
A specific example is a gui front-end to cvs, which comes back with
numerous candidates, most notably, gcvs, lincvs, cervisia, etc.
I have often wondered if there is a means of "rating" an application, so
I can select the one with the least bugs, the most activity, the best
email support, the best gui, whatever.
Does such a system exist anywhere?
