[plug] NTP "exceeds sanity limit"

G'day,

Anyone else noticed their system clock going haywire while ripping CDs?
Currently I've been resorting to re-setting the clock regularly while
ripping CDs like so:

(root at erdos /home/cameron) while true; do ntpdate euclid; sleep 30; done
13 Sep 17:48:25 ntpdate[28576]: step time server 10.0.1.1 offset 17.180739 sec
13 Sep 17:49:21 ntpdate[28580]: step time server 10.0.1.1 offset 25.365227 sec
13 Sep 17:50:11 ntpdate[28592]: step time server 10.0.1.1 offset 19.825394 sec
[...]

The ntpd that I normally run gave up the ghost and spat the message
"time correction of 1406 seconds exceeds sanity limit (1000); set clock
manually to the correct UTC time" into my /var/log/daemon.log.

Is there any way to fix and/or work around this problem short of my
kludge above?

Cheers,

Cameron.
