While I understand what you're saying, that is only true when (and if)
this starts. It's the same for when Thawte started. My whole point was
that you have got to start somewhere.

If we as a group of geeks trust each other, then each of us is a member
of (several) other communities, where the same thing can happen.

Before you know it, the general public has heard of someone.

Anyway, I'm not typing away to tell people what to do, I was trying to
indicate that a CA isn't the end-all and be-all of issuing SSL
certificates.

Later I'll read Craigs reading suggestion and see where that brings us.
