Both Scott and Trevor's output look great, almost what I had in mind for
my Van-cam. You'll recall that we're traveling around Oz and that I'm a
geek. I've built a computer into the dash of my van to play MP3s but it
has some spare USB ports which I wanted to plug in two cameras.
The machine has 128Mb of RAM, but we can make that more. It has a 600Mhz
Celeron and a 20Gb HDD (can become 80Gb).
Has anyone got any experience with USB cameras that sample swiftly -
we're travelling at 90km/h - and work nicely with Linux. I'm hoping to
grab a frame every two or so minutes, (with some smarts if we're
stationary), from BOTH cameras (perhaps three), and combine the images
onto one frame.
Also, I'd like to make a button you can press for an instant shot -
which will take three frames, the one before you pressed, the press and
the one after.
So, any comments?
