While I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, and perhaps its because
I'm not as smart as the rest of you, but I spent two days attempting to
make amanda work. The tape testing software ran for 18 hours and it
still gave me a bogus answer.

I'm still searching beyond rsync and tar, with a recursive ftp
thrown-in, because last night the backup decided that after 24Gb it was
full, even though the tape holds 50Gb uncompressed.

So, while a Debian package exists, I felt like yelling at the package
maintainer, but decided that it wasn't worth the stress... If it's that
great, why hasn't anyone made a configuration tool for it - and don't
give me rubbish about "just editing .conf files" either :-(

So, YMMV IMHO.

Reminds me of the abomination called Hylafax... Three weeks later it
finally worked.
