I would like to take this opportunity to thank John Usher in public for
his complete devotion to attempting to solve the problem I recently
bored you all to tears with on an IDE-Tape drive. Our conversation about
this was 20 emails, and while he didn't actually find the [hardware]
work-around, it wasn't for the lack of trying.

The actual fix was completed by Matt Kemner who went on-site and used
his trusty screw-driver to swap some stuff around whilst playing with
USB devices :-)

Thank you.

I hope I can return the favour.

The brickbat must go to Rodney at Intel who suggested I should call my
"Linux manufacturer support for further assistance"

I'm not sure I'll be buying an Intel board in a hurry again.
