Or `apropos`. Nonetheless, it won't cover everything - especially with 
everybody's faviourite, the totally undocumented tool, or with something 
that isn't actually installed already. I've run into things before where 
I know what I want, I know it can be done, and I /just can't/ find the 
utility to do it. Typically it's present but has a strange name and 
stranger summary, or it's lurking on some obscure corner of the 'net, 
often only mentioned by name.

Tools like apropos, locate, man -k, and grepping /usr/share/doc in 
frustration can often find the answer. I can, however, easily understand 
why someone who's been using *nix for 2 years will still stumble across 
something and go "wow! that's how you do that ... I knew there had to be 
something, but could never find it...."
