| single-frontend single-backend or two-backend murder test on a couple of
| boxes at home, just to get a better feel for the setup?
Or you could test them using User-Mode Linux? Three or four
concurrent UML instances aren't going to murder (*ahem*) your machine,
even on relatively modest hardware.
