And way out of date. The 2.4 kernel they mention as 
soon-to-be-introduced was in wide use in many distros at the time, very 
few Linux distros install to non-journalling filesystems by default now 
and many didn't at the time (the flier seems to be based on a 
preponderance of experience with Red Hat).

Both Linux and FreeBSD are much better by default now than the flier 
would have her believe.

As for applications, pick out tools relevant to her situation from here 
if the need is for other than wordprocessing-web-and-email:
