Only for small volumes. If you need lots of cables it quickly becomes 
cheaper to buy a 300m spool, some ends, and a good crimper. It may even 
be worth it for a few very long runs (where pre-made cables can be 
several hundred dollars).

Of course, there's also the time factor - if your time is worth anything 
to you, you need to take the time taken making cables into account.
