Not technically true :) I was reading at
ipodlinux.sourceforge.net/faq.shtml

you can install linux on your ipod and then it can play ogg files. I'm
not sure that the quality is so good, but it is still technically
possible.

I haven't actually tried putting linux on my ipod (yet). Maybe when the
sheen wears off a bit I might try it.
