rc.local is typically under /etc/rc.d not /etc. I'd be surprised if mandrake is any different.
It might also be worth making sure /etc/rc.d/rc.local is executable? Not that I have ever encountered this problem.
Good luck.

Subject: [plug] mandrake 9.4 startup
I have setup a simple firewall script on my linux box which I call from boot using the file /etc/rc.local
Basically I have just tacked on to the end of this file with a line similar to /etc/firewall_script
But this script never seems to get run and I have to manually execute via ssh
Is there a way I can query my box to see if the rc.local file is being run?
I have been led to believe that this is a good place to execute startup batch scripts from but maybe there is another file?
Thanks guys
Phil
