[plug] USB mass storage and SD card

Hi People

Just a question re USB Mass Storage devices with "piggyback" cards.

I bought a USB Mass Storage (from now on USBMS) from Dick Smith Electronics
around Christmas time and was very chuffed to find that plugging it
straight in to a USB port under Linux caused an icon to appear on the
desktop saying /dev/sda1 unmounted. A right click on there and choose
option "mount" and away we went. Perfect, thought I, so I went and bought
an SD card, which plugs into the side of the USBMS.

Now my problems start, in that Linux (Mdk 9.1 and 9.2) don't see the extra
storage. I know it's there because Win2K sees the USBMS as 2 drives and
will write to either one.

Anybody else got a similar set of toys and has got them working?

For your edification and perusing pleasure, this is what I get out of
/var/log/messages when I plug the USBMS in, with or without the SD card.
