If my memory is correct, from what I have read (I have not done the 
course(s) ), the LPI certification has two streams; Red Hat and Debian, 
so that you can opt for a course/certification, that is Debian oriented 
(contains generic Linux stuff, and, Debian-specific stuff).

That does not mean that the courses are predominantly 
distribution-specific; just that (if I am correct) the separate streams 
have some distribution-specific components.

You would need to research it, to verify or refute my understanding as 
being correct.

I believe that the web site (www.lpi.org , I think) has sample 
questions, etc, and, shows the two streams.

Also, I believe that the Debian web site has information about books, 
etc, on the web site. It would be worth looking around the Debian web 
site.
