Nah, I think I figured out what the issue was.  It was something to do 
with the switch it was plugged into (HP Procurve).  I read up on some 
fixes in new versions of the HP firmware and there were a few vague 
things that sound like they could've been the cause.  Its come good for 
now, but I'm going to TFTP up some new software onto the switch when I 
get a chance before it decides to fall over again.
