as root:
mcedit (or vi whatever) /etc/X11/XF86Config-4, look for:

driver "nv" (or something similar)

and change it to

driver "vesa"

I've probably got the line a bit wrong, but just look for nv and change it. 
that'll change it to standard svga drivers, which should work with anything. 
from there, you can configure  your networking utils, get on mozilla and 
download the new nvidia drivers (follow the instructions CAREFULLY).
