[plug] Mailbox speeds (was [OT] Gmail Opinions)

My existing mail system is Cyrus IMAP, which stores each message as separate
files.
It strikes me that whatever your storage system is, if it kept the META data
for the messages in a relational database (you know, one of them things
designed for optimising searching & relating data?), then it'd be much faster
for selecting a range of messages (even grouping by thread ID, etc)...
Anyone know of an IMAP server using MySQL or similar (if only for
indexing/searching, rather than storing message content)?
