Thanx for your reply MungoTheB.
I have actually tried that. I'm not new to Linux. However I am new to
Mandrake. I thought perhaps the drivers for my graphics card might be
buggy...but I have tried the default 60Hz 640x480 resolution with 256
colours... ie the simplest form.
This is what is in the log file after I run XF86cfg:
XFree86 Version 4.3.0

X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.6

Can anyone help? Or do I download a different version. Perhaps version 10?
Regards

Mandrake has worked with everything I've chucked at it (with only a few
hiccups, mostly X and nvidia)
have usually sorted them out
BEST lil program for XFREE86 is xf86cfg. automaticly sorts out your basic X
param then you can fine tune or leave alone.
and dont forget ya xfree logs
