I didn't think anything had been changed but I just asked the boss and 
he'd run up2date and someting's not right with the latest version fo 
wu-ftp (or maybe wu-ftp and our config).
I got called out to a job (that's why I didn't respond until now), the 
boss downgraded wu-ftpd from version 2.6.1-23 (as installed by up2date) 
to 2.6.1-20 and it's working ok again.
