OpenOffice can be run from the command line and used to execute macros,
etc. In the OO.o help, check out the "command line parameters" entry
(it's there as of a recent OO.o680 build; I can't check 1.1 right now).

Additionally, there's the Python UNO gateway for OO.o. It comes
pre-packaged with OO.o. For time reasons I haven't done more than idly
play with it so far, but my impression is it's worth looking into for
what you want.

Maybe a search of the OO.o Users list archive might be useful.
