I'll bite wrt to setting up chroots - if you have a debian machine
handy, you can easily setup a chroot with various packages with
pbuilder. I've also got a script that will copy an ELF binary and
all it's library dependencies into a a chroot if needs to be more
specialised - if you're interested I can post it.
