It is, because you don't actually lose the data.  

This was SOP for the tech if he encountered a problem that he couldn't fix 
immediately.  Didn't bother to check google, just reinstalled - including 
formating the hdds.  We lost an entire show that had been paid for in advance 
and was due to be delivered that day to the station.  Even the PHB couldn't 
ignore that one.
