[plug] Connection problems

Hi

The current system is mandrake 10 running on a P2 intel chip
connected to a DLink 300g adsl modem in bridge mode
The windows 2000 machine shares the internet connection via  the linux box 


Here,s the  problem  , when the linux machine that I am using to access the 
internet  is STARTED UP   there is no working connection to my ISP ,but if I 
pull the cable out of the linux machine and  then plug it  back in it works 
perfectly, that is I can access the internet from both the Windows and Linux 
machines
I can ping the modem and both computers from each other but I am unable to 
ping the ISP  server unless I briefly disconnect the modem from the linux 
box and then plug back it in,  everthing works fine after that , I don,t 
think it is a phyciscal connection problem because  the solutation is 
repeatable evertime
Has anyone  got any ideas on this problem
