[plug] dpkg/apt problem

When trying to install packages or perform and `apt-get update` on a 
particular machine I get the following error.

Reading Package Lists... Error!
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Error occured while processing libwww-cnic-perl (NewPackage)
E: Problem with MergeList 
/var/lib/apt/lists/ftp.wa.au.debian.org_debian_dists_testing_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
----
This only occurs on the one machine and not any of the others with the 
same sources.list
