The power supply on my own Tosh 3000 gave up the ghost as well. Cable
broke just out of the brick itself so was too hard to splice it back in.
In the end, just cut off the connector and hard wired it to another
power supply with the same ratings (a Sharp powerpack if memory serves
me). Works just as well. I'm just more careful now about how tightly I
wrap the cable around the powerpack - no tight angles.
Jaycar (www.jaycar.com.au) in North Perth have universal laptop power
supplies but for me was a lot more expensive than hit-wiring an
alternative power supply. They're also a lot bigger. Can't recall the
price though.
