Do you definitely mean port forwarding? If so, some more context would
be appreciated, such as what you are trying to achieve, what ports you
are trying to forwarding, what "it" is that says "check if you have
enabled port forwarding", etc.

If you mean NAT / IP Masquerade or general ip forwarding ("routing"),
Harry's answer should get you started.

If you do actually mean port forwarding, you need to look into iptables
- specifically the 'DNAT' target. Some time spent on Google,
linuxquestions.org, and perhaps tldp.org would be well advised.

I don't think debian has any standard mechanism to configure iptables
rules, but you can use iptables-save and iptables-restore or any number
of other rule management systems. apt-cache search will help.

Finally, I'm going to make a guess, and ask if you really want to enable
port forwarding _on_ your ADSL modem/router _to_ your Debian box?
