Why do you think the issue has CUPS at its core? Without knowing
what on Earth you are printing, I would suspect you're printing
from, say, OpenOffice and Mozilla. What happens if you print an
old PDF (e.g. `lp /path/to/mypdf.pdf`)? What sort of printer are
you printing to? PostScript or non-PostScript? Does the problem
really affect all applications, or just a couple? What happens if
you print a plain text document (e.g. `lp /path/to/mytext.txt`)?
