Matplotlib is really quite nifty, it can do a lot of different types
of graphs and output them in a lot of ways (including embedded in a
GTK app, etc).  It's not quite so nice for interactive use as matlab,
but it's great if you have a python programme and want it to produce
pretty graphs with minimal pain.
