Just a reminder that you can separate the recording and playback to 
separate PCs. You could probably use anything with a PCI slot for the 
PVR. Just watch out for BIOS problems putting a big HDD in an old PC.

DVI on the motherboard! nice.

I just tried something similar, and found to my horror that the 
integrated nVidia 6100 video did not work in Linux. Fortunately, the 
latest nVidia Linux drivers now support it.
   I havn't got XvMC working, but its not needed.
