Had the same problem recently.
New file is at
/home/someuser/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail

I still say that if /home/.Mail/
was good enough for thousands of years then it still should be good enough 
now.

You may have guessed that it took me a while to find this directory in a 
backup set after doing a fresh install of SUSE.
