[plug] KDE memory usage problem

hi all,

Every time I open a KDE application I get an error message that states:

"Could not find mime-type: application/octet-stream"

The application opens correctly after I click on "OK" but a kdeinit 
process is unleashed that uses up all the memory and causes X to hang 
unless I kill it first. I'm using GNOME atm but I like to use the 
occasional KDE app, so this is a mighty PITA. I've checked through the 
logs and nothing seems to be showing up. I don't know how to debug it 
and now I'm stuck.

Any tips appreciated....
