[plug] Disabling middle-mouse-button paste

Hi folks

I'm currently in the interesting position of needing to _disable_ middle
mouse button paste, as I have a user here who cannot seem to scroll
without clicking and is getting terribly confused.

Unfortunately, I'm having considerable difficulties finding out how to
do this, if it can even be done at all. I expected it to be possible to
unmap a mouse button with xmodmap, but I don't see a way to do it that
way.

Ideally I'd prefer to disable paste but not the middle mouse button.
What I know about X11 programming suggests that wont' be possible to do
in any consistent-across-the-system way, though it might be possible at
the toolkit/desktop level. I need to disable it at least in Evolution
(so probably across GNOME) and in OO.o . I don't see anything in the Gtk
or OO.o setup (I've checked out gconf too) for it.

At this point I'm seriously considering just disabling the switch in the
mouse that detects middle mouse button presses, but I'd prefer to find a
solution that doesn't involve hardware butchery.

Ideas?
