[plug] Retrive Running Xserver Details

As my nice 21" Monitor doesn't have an OSD I would like a way to
retrieve the running resolution and refresh rate.
I am currently using XFree86 (Debian Testing I think) and am looking at
using Xorg soon.

I think the refresh rate is currently at 60Hz but I would like to know
the resolution so I have some idea of what to change it too.
It doesn't respond to DDC requests as far as I can see and `sudo
get-edid |parse-edid' fails as the VBE call failed.

Thanks

Tim
