It does just that. However my experience has been that the circular scratches inflicted by my 
technique don't impact the readability of the disc anywhere near as much as the scratch you are 
trying to polish out. Like I said, by the time you are finished you will look at it and swear it 
will never play again. You may be surprised.

Works for me anyway. I guess despite how much I hate the phrase.. YMMV.
