Unlike windoze, most distros have full 64bit versions available, so
there's little problem there.  The problem is that some applications are
still 32 bit, in part at least.  There's often a valid reason such as
speed why this is done.

Buying 32 bit today doesnt seem very future proof, esp as Intel seem to
be behind amd at the moment, and look like they have to go 32/64 bit to
compete.  Once windows goes 64 bit, 32 bit will quickly become an
unsupported legacy.
