Did you actually try an install using them anyway?  I say this because I
recall FC2 had a bug where it would report that it failed the media
check, but all was actually okay.  You had to use a CLI switch to run
without media check.  Maybe Ubuntu has fallen into the same bug's nest?
Worth checking.
