[plug] ubuntu package install question

dpkg --install <file.deb>
I *think* that should do it. Be cautious, introducing odd packages to the
system can do wierd things.
Alternatively there are instructions out there on building your own custom
apt-get source for this task. I believe this is the recomended method.
Forgot how to do it tho :(
